“CANCER: WHY ARE WE SO HELPLESS?” 20 February 1992

The lecture indicated that our currently unsatisfactory treatment of most cancers stems from our incomplete knowledge of the true nature of cancer and the factors that are responsible for its initiation. The situation is worsened in developing countries like Nigeria by the fact that many patients, desperately ill with advanced cancers, often report very late to health institutions, where there are inadequate infrastructural and organisational arrangements to treat such advanced cancers.
