Emeritus Professor

Ngozi Clare Orazulike is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, with special interests in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Assisted Reproductive Technology and Medical Education. She holds the MBBS from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1992), Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) – Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (2004), Post-Fellowship Certificate in Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Technology of the WACS (2024), and the Master of Science (MSc) degree in Medical Education from the University of Oxford (2024).

Professor Orazulike has taught full-time for almost 20 years, as she was appointed Lecturer 1 in 2005 by the then Vice Chancellor – Late Professor Emeritus Nimi Briggs and thereafter, became his mentee. She was appointed full professor in 2017. She has held several academic and administrative positions such as: Director, Centre for Medical Research and Training (2019 – 2021); Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (2020 – 2022); and currently Chair Occupant, Nimi Briggs Professorial Chair of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. These posts have earned her numerous awards notably; Vice Chancellor, UNIPORT Dedicated Service Award in recognition of exceptional dedication to duties (33rd Convocation Ceremomy, 2022).

Professor Orazulike has a passion for medical education/research, and is always striving to enrich knowledge, the learning process and skills within the specialty. She is External Examiner to several medical schools in Nigeria, and is also very active in post-graduate medical education activities in West Africa, as an Examiner for post-graduate trainees and a Member of Council of the West African College of Surgeons (WACS).

She has published over 50 articles, edited seven books, is on the editorial board of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Global Reports, the Tropical Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and peer-reviews for reputable indexed journals. She is a member of several Learned Societies. In addition to rendering distinguished services to numerous professional and social associations, she champions good causes in the church, her community and the larger society.
